CARE FOR THE ELDERLY SICK CONTINUES TO EXPAND

Wesley HomeJoy Service began operations, providing home-based help to the frail elderly and older persons living in the Northwest region.

SEMBAWANG FAMILY SERVICE CENTRE OPENS

MWS adds another family service centre, set up in partnership with Covenant Community Methodist Church.

MWS SECRETARIAT AWAITS NEW HOME

The MWS Secretariat moved from Peace Centre to St George’s Lane, while pending completion of its new premise at Barker Road.

2003

MWS GOES INTO PREVENTIVE CARE WITH UPSTREAM SERVICES

Methodist Children & Youth Centre for Parenting was launched to better equip parents through Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme). The MWS Psychological Assessment & Referral Service for Children was launched in Sept to support parents seeking information and help concerning their children’s learning and developmental needs.

2005

SECTOR COLLABORATION CEMENTS INDUSTRY STANDING

The good work of Methodist Children & Youth Centre was recognised when it was commissioned by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) to train all volunteers recruited for the MCYS Foster Parents Scheme.

Methodist Hospice Fellowship also strengthened its service by establishing a working relationship with the Palliative Care team of Alexandra Hospital so that it had more ready access to medical and nursing staff to address the needs of hospice patients.

2006

ENHANCED CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

In response to events in the sector that affected public confidence in transparency and governance of charities, MWS enhanced its Constitution, Vision and Mission and adopted a set of team values to ensure more robust corporate governance and transparency.

2010

WESLEY SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTRE OPENS

MWS’ community eldercare services expanded when it opened Wesley Senior Activity Centre, in partnership with Wesley Methodist Church, to reach out to seniors living in rental flats in Jalan Berseh.

2010

MILESTONE YEAR WITH $1.7M RAISED FOR THE POOR

MWS marked the 125th Anniversary of the Methodist Church in Singapore with a large-scale Community Outreach Project, raising over $1.7 million and recruiting 2,000 Methodist befrienders from all 44 Methodist churches. MWS’ focus on building organisational capacity also enabled us to clinch the NVPC Non-Profit Organisation of the Year Award (Philanthropy Management).
